This was our first ever Schools Championship run by the UKCA at the Velodrome in Manchester and what a fabulous day it was.
In January of this year we started a new team, Sparklers for the reception children of Tintwistle School. In their first ever competition they came a wonderful 8th out of 9 in the Pom Dance section, even though the teams they competed against were KS1 children. They peformed their routines without any help and you could see by their faces just how much they enjoyed it.
Flare competed in the KS2 Level 1 medium section and came an amazing 1st out of 8, Ignition competed in KS2 Level 1 small section and also came an amazing 1st out of 6, and just when we thought the day could not get any better, the 3 teams as a whole won the Milano Spirit Award. The was due to the children supporting all the other teams by cheering, chanting and dancing all day and not one of them lost their voices!
It really was a fantastic day and each and every child, and parent, came back really happy, it is a day that will not be forgotten for a long time.
